PVI Ships Largest Single Order for Duplex Stainless Steel Domestic Hot Water Storage Tanks

On June 12, 2014, PVI Industries shipped four 3000 gallon AquaPLEX duplex stainless steel hot water storage tanks for an apartment /office building complex in British Columbia, Canada. This is the largest installation for the duplex stainless material since the introduction of AquaPLEX in 2010.

Each of the storage tanks will be connected to a plate-and-frame heat exchanger to generate several thousand gallons per hour of domestic hot water from a boiler water loop. The tanks are rated for 250 psi operating pressure and were constructed and stamped to section VIII of the ASME code. The tanks are factory insulated and jacketed to meet ASHRAE 90.1 heat loss standards. The storage tanks will be installed along with two 1500 gallon AquaPLEX water heaters incorporating immersed u-tube heat exchangers each capable of generating several thousand gallons per hour of domestic hot water.

Located in Fort Worth, Texas, PVI Industries is the world’s largest manufacturer of ASME code duplex stainless steel water heaters and hot water storage tanks. Sold under the brand name AquaPLEX, the duplex alloy is a blend of ferritic and austenitic stainless steels. The material provides for a hot water storage vessel that is naturally corrosion resistant to potable hot water and requires no tank lining or anode rod protection. Manufacture of the tanks includes immersion pickle/passivation after all welding is completed to return the stainless steel to its original pristine condition. The water heaters and storage tanks are warranted against corrosion for up to 25 years.  AquaPLEX tanks are available in water heaters using gas, electricity, steam, boiler water, oil or combinations of energies. Storage capacities range from 125 to 4500 gallons.  For more information visit, www.pvi.com.
